Bonvue

Hollywood Hills Elegance

Experience the epitome of Hollywood Hills elegance in this stunning Spanish Craftsman house. Full of old-world charm, it lives up to the street name, bon vue (French for “good view”), offering the most spectacular views of Los Angeles. As with most homes built in the 1920s, the spaces were isolated from one another, the uses segmented.  Guests were entertained in the living room, then served in the dining room from the isolated kitchen, finally recessing to a den for cigars and drinks - never stepping outside, only enjoying the vistas from inside.  However, today we live in a house differently.  We flow through the kitchen to the living spaces, inside to out, entertaining, relaxing with a book or media.  The simple fact is that if this house were designed today, the kitchen would be prioritized to the take maximal advantage of the view.

Opening the kitchen to the vistas was a must, but the pathway led through a butler’s pantry and then to an elegantly paneled dining room.  The challenge was met by removing the butler’s pantry, incorporating it into the kitchen, and installing a pair of doors which open directly to the dining room and the panoramic view beyond.  Now one can sit at a newly designed island and remodeled kitchen while enjoying views of the LA cityscape.

The entire three-story of this Historic Spanish Craftsman house was remodeled with new bathrooms, updated wiring, heating and cooling as well has a home theatre and speakers inside and out, ready for a new generation to enjoy this beautifully crafted historic home.  Contact us to discuss your next remodel.
