Mt. Washington Craftsman
An old, vintage ice box and some salvaged v-groove paneling from a nearby tear-down house inspired the remodel of this Craftsman kitchen. Once safely stripped of old toxic paint, there was enough beautiful old growth Douglas fir paneling to clad the wainscoting in both the kitchen and bathroom - with a bit left over for cabinet doors. Old framing lumber from the demolished house was cut down to make the remaining door and drawer fronts, so that the cabinets matched the aged wood of the ice box - now repurposed as a marble-topped island. A retro-inspired Energy Star-rated fridge enhances the vintage aesthetic, while helping to keep this remodel eco-friendly, as well.
